Kathryn Ostenberg Music

New York-based singer/songwriter Kathryn Ostenberg fell into songwriting by chance. Raised in Colorado, with dreams of pursuing a career in film, Kathryn grew up performing in school plays and singing in the school choir. However, it was not until a fellow classmate at the University of Colorado, Boulder, passed along a mix-tape of some guitar chords he’d composed, that Kathryn realized she could write songs. With an almost immediate knack for creating and combining melodic and lyrical ideas, Kathryn graduated a semester early from the University of Colorado, to focus on songwriting and playing guitar. Within six months, Kathryn played her first open mic and relocated to Los Angeles. Kathryn was soon performing at various venues around the Los Angeles area, including legendary singer/songwriter venue, The Hotel Cafe, in Hollywood. It was at The Hotel Cafe that Kathryn found a tightly knit community of singer/songwriters and musicians. Kathryn began collaborating with various artists and producers around Los Angeles and has since had several songs placed on commercials in the US, UK, and Canada. Kathryn’s EP The Other Side, features songs produced by Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Laura Jansen) including the song “The Pull”, co-written with fellow singer/songwriter Greg Holden (writer of 2012 American Idol winner Philip Phillip’s triple platinum hit, “Home.”)  In early 2012, Kathryn signed with Position Music (Tyrone Wells, Jess Penner) and currently resides in New York City. Her new EP, You Are , produced by Thomas Doeve (Andrew Belle, Trent Dabbs) was released in January 2013.
